  • Changes were made to ensure that control limits added while viewing a multi-chart are always saved to disk.

  • Some charts were allowing users to right click and make annotation changes when editing was turned off.

These changes and corrections were made after the 2.0.77 release and are contained in the 2.0.95 release (release date October 10, 2005)

  • The error message was improved for when the CHARTrunner application cannot be instantiated in the main routine.

  • Changes were made to improve the way the software development kit uses the CHARTrunner application object. If multiple charting OCX controls are used they can now share the same application object.

  • Changes were made that will make it less likely that new releases of CHARTrunner will change the class id of the charting OCX. This is helpful mainly to users of the CHARTrunner software development kit (SDK).

  • Some control charts did not allow for multiple subgroups to be selected while viewing the chart.

  • When a chart is displayed, selecting File/Save chart as image, and then selecting EMF for the image format, the chart image is not always sized correctly.

  • Some charts do not properly display annotations until you press the F5-Refresh key.

  • Right clicking and then selecting View data while displaying certain Pareto charts can cause an Overflow error.

  • An internal routine named InList() was corrected to fix an error related to the way LIKE was being used in pattern matching.

  • A Division by zero error could occur on certain charts containing annotations.

  • Print margins could be incorrect when printing a multi-chart where one of the charts did not have enough data to create a chart.

  • Multi-chart titles which used substitutions were not working. For example @D would print as @D rather than using the current date.

  • The line of best fit on a scatter diagram – where the data contained negative numbers – could be incorrect.

  • X-axis labels based on a numeric identifier column could be incorrectly formatted as date values.

  • Some Pareto charts that were defined in 1.7 would display differently in 2.0. Changes were made to allow the “totals chart” to be handled independently of the “multiple charts” option.

  • Using the feature Send chart as e-mail, when no e-mail server had been setup in Preferences, could cause CHARTrunner to lock up.

  • A chart which did not map a unique identifier column would not allow annotations to be added.

  • Saving chart images from a workspace could cause the charts to briefly flash on the screen.

  • Charts that return many records from the data source – the majority of which contain missing data – could cause unusual y-axis scaling errors.

  • Saving some short-run spc charts as images, could result in an error message like this: DrawShortRunChart (583)] Subscript out of range

  • A change was made to Pareto charts in which all the categories result in zero counts. Instead of a single bar labeled as “No data” we now display all the categories showing their bars are at zero.

  • Multi-chart titles that were changed during chart display did not show up on the chart until the chart was closed and redisplayed.

  • Using the CHARTrunner Excel add-in, if you modified a chart definition from the chart list, the changes were not being saved.

  • Charts with extra lines defined over a custom range of subgroups did not always display the extra lines correctly.

These changes and corrections were made after the 1.7.49 release and are contained in the 2.0.77 release (release date September 22, 2005)

  • Charts using custom queries against Excel data which have multiple order by columns could cause the program to stop running.

  • Adding a filter to a chart with existing annotations could cause a chart to lockup when trying to redisplay.

  • Clicking on view data while looking at a multi-chart with two control charts – can cause an error message to be displayed.

  • In some cases, pressing F5 to refresh a control chart will cause data points where were originally out-of-control – to show as if they are not out-of-control. Typically this happened on individuals charts, with an order by criteria and user defined y-axis scaling.

  • In some cases, a complex multi-chart would not render correctly with some charts showing in the wrong view port.

  • Options were added to allow the user to control the font for data values near points.

  • Various improvements were made related to annotations. Sometimes, the line orientation would get reversed. Sometimes scrolling the chart would not scroll the annotation correctly. Sometimes the “attach to x-axis” option did not work. These issues were corrected.

  • Trying to do multi-line charts using the Excel add-in could cause this error: User defined type not defined.

  • With a filtered chart, the option to view subgroup information while looking at the chart, can display information from the wrong subgroup.

  • Mapping more than 50 columns on an X-bar and Sigma chart can cause a long error message that ends with Subscript out of range.

  • Context sensitive help was not displaying the correct topic on many of the chart definition form tabs.

  • Trying to display a multi-line chart using the Excel add-in can cause this error: Unable to create chart form. This was corrected.s

These changes and corrections were made after the 1.7.48 release and are contained in the 1.7.49 release (release date June 30, 2005)

  • Long delays could occur when the entire worksheet was selected in Microsoft Excel and the CHARTrunner-XL add-in was being used. The long delay could possibly make the user think the computer was locked up. This was corrected.

These changes and corrections were made after the 1.7.46 release and are contained in the 1.7.48 release (release date January 17, 2005)

  • Annotations that are attached to unique Date/Time identifiers do not always get re-displayed with the annotation in the correct location.

  • When using CHARTrunner within Excel, via the Excel add-in, if a cell in the chart data range contains and error – such as DIV#0 – this can cause “type mismatch” errors.

  • When a control chart is setup to use more data than it shows – by setting a “width in subgroups” to some number less than the total number of subgroups – the data grid above the chart can get out of synch with the data points plotted on the chart. The numbers may be “pushed to the left” in the data grid – but the data line goes all the way across the chart. When this occurs the scroll bar does not work as it should.

  • Improvements were made when applying x-axis labels to control charts that are setup with advanced row selection. In some cases, every data point was labeled even though the chart was defined to display a few labels.

These changes and corrections were made after the 1.7.38 release and are contained in the 1.7.46 release (release date January 17, 2005)

  • When running Excel with the CHARTrunner add-in, opening some worksheets can cause a “Type mismatch” error in the “SetCrMenuState” routine. This was corrected.

  • On Pareto charts where more that 10 columns are mapped as “count” columns, this error can occur: “Method ~ of Object ~ not found.” This was corrected.

  • A u-chart using Date on the x-axis – with an option to label every n units where n=1 month, to which an annotation is added, can result in an “Overflow” error after a message stating that “chart failed with one or more errors.” This was fixed.

  • When running under German (Germany) settings, some histograms report incorrect mean, min, and max statistics. This was corrected.

  • Using the @SOURCEFILEDATE chart title was causing an error when used on a chart created by the Excel add-in.

  • Some charts could be setup so that “Scale x-axis with variable interval” was selected – when it should not be allowed.

  • Running CrViewer17.exe with a “?” parameter should display help about command line syntax options – but it was not displaying the help.

  • Changes were made to allow a Pareto chart definition to not show the “total counts” above the chart.

  • Support was added for fetching data from HTTP and FTP via ADO xml recordsets.

These changes and corrections were made after the 1.7.31 release and are contained in the 1.7.38 release (release date September 1, 2004)

  • When saving a Cusum chart definition, some settings were stored in a way that made them not work when opened on a pc running in a different language. This was corrected.

  • While viewing a chart, pressing F5 (Refresh) could cause the data line and y-axis scales to be redrawn with errors. This was fixed.

  • Printing a CHARTrunner chart in Landscape mode could sometimes leave the printer in Landscape mode for other applications. This was resolved.

  • An SDK example was added showing how to programmatically create a multi-chart.

  • @CO_NAME was added as a new chart titles substitution. This will display the company name as defined under Setup/Preferences.

  • When a chart is saved as a metafile, if any x-axis labels are displayed at an angle, the text string itself is angled but the individual letters within the string are oriented "normally." This was corrected.

  • Clicking around in the plot area of a Cusum chart could result in the v-mask being displayed “off” the data line. This was fixed.

  • Improvements were made to histograms in their ability to handle large data sets.

  • On an individuals/moving range chart, sometimes when the very first data point is out-of-control on the individuals chart, it is not marked with an out-of-control marker. This was corrected.

  • An error was fixed which caused Cpk to not show on some histograms – even though Cpk had been requested.

  • Some control charts would not allow you to select subgroups in order to compute control limits. In these cases the variable-x-axis option was selected but disabled.

  • In some cases, specification line labels are rounded so that a value like 1.234 shows up on the line as 1. This affected histograms and control charts and as fixed in this release.

  • An option was added to force Pareto bar labels to be outside the bar.

  • An option was added to the Excel add-in which allows the user to chart data going across (rather than down) a worksheet.

  • Added several chart title substitutions for statistics. For example @Cpk, @Dpm Most histogram statistics are covered.

  • Using certain characters as part of the chart name can cause “file not found” errors when you try to modify the chart. “%De” seems to be one culprit. This has been corrected.

  • The error “no charts specified” is displayed when you try to modify a multi-chart definition. This was corrected.

  • And error where out-of-control testing was not working on run charts – was corrected.

These changes and corrections were made after the 1.7.20 release and are contained in the 1.7.31 release (release date June 9, 2004)

  • When running Excel with the CHARTrunner add-in enabled, if you select multiple entire columns, then right click, Excel can “appear” to freeze up. The add-in was looking through all these cells for data and this took a long time. A change removed this check until chart time – when it is much less likely that so many cells would be checked. Hourglass processing was added to give user feedback during this time.

  • A chart that is defined using the Excel-add in, which also has the “close data source after display” option selected, can give you a “missing connection string” error on the data definition tab. This was corrected.

  • A spreadsheet column name with a leading or trailing space can cause an “invalid field” error when trying to display the chart. This was improved.

  • A new menu choice was added. Help/PQ Systems on the Web/View product tutorial. This selection launches a browser and displays a tutorial web page.

  • While viewing the filter form, clicking on “show where clause” may cause an “object or with block variable not set” error. This can put the form in a state where this is no easy way out. This has been corrected.

  • An error was corrected which caused some histograms, using the Pearson distribution, to display only a partial curve.

  • Under Help/About – information was added which displays the trial days remaining.

  • On some histograms, clicking on a bar to see the cell interval information, can display incorrect information. This was corrected.

  • Some options on the titles tab of the chart definition form, which apply only to control charts, are visible when working with a Pareto chart. This was resolved.

  • When creating a new chart, it should inherit the “active” out-of-control test rules. In some cases this did not happen. The error was corrected.

  • Improvements were made to a confusing message box that warned the user about changing out-of-control test rules for the current chart.

  • A maintenance reminder scheme was implemented. It displays a message (a few times) 365 days after the initial install.

These changes and corrections were made after the 1.7.18 release and are contained in the 1.7.20 release (release date March 12, 2004)

  • A workspace printing error was corrected. A workspace containing two multi-charts would print the first one twice when the user selected “print all charts in workspace.”

These changes and corrections were made after the 1.6.74 release and are contained in the 1.7.18 release (release date February 23, 2004)

  • The primary new feature in this release is the Excel add-in which allows you to create charts from a CHARTrunner menu within Excel. CRXlAddin.xls.

  • Added “custom parameter” support for DAO/Jet data sources.

  • Added support for query parameters as @ title substitutions. Improved support for title macros of the form @{{QueryParameterName}} for DAO/Jet data sources.

  • In the Excel add-in, improved the case where entire columns of data are selected but only the first several rows contain any data.

  • Improved the way query parameters behave once they have been entered and the chart has been displayed. We no remember the original query values entered by the user throughout a display/edit chart definition cycle.

  • Improved the way query parameters are supported when Oracle is the data source.

  • Corrected errors in the way advanced row selection handles grouping and sampling by time intervals such as minutes or hours.

  • Corrected a false contributes-to out-of-control signal (hollow red square) on the right edge of certain control charts.

  • Corrected an error where multi-charts on different workstations charting data from different tables in the same database – might produce the following error:
Operation is not allowed when the object is closed.

  • Corrected a problem where p-charts can have their lower control limit lines clipped due to y-axis scaling of negative values.

  • Corrected an error in the way control limits on individuals/moving range charts handle data that has an assignable cause.

  • Corrected a problem where a display label (data definition tab) containing leading or trailing spaces caused an error to be displayed while trying to “view data” from the chart display form.

  • Corrected an error; Invalid property array index. This would occur after changing a control chart (which had saved limits) to a Cusum control chart.

  • Add support for filters in charts where the data source is an external ADO recordset. This was prevented in earlier releases.

  • Added support for out-of-control testing above or below a target value. For example, 3 of 4 above target.

  • Improve the way chart-review selects out-of-control test rules for charts that have none defined.

These changes and corrections were made after the 1.6.73 release and are contained in the 1.6.74 release (release date October 13, 2003)

  • When small decimal numbers were plotted as a Pareto chart. The bar chart did not show columns, however the column chart and pie chart were okay.

  • Turning of the data markers on a Multi-line chart no longer turns the chart legend off.

  • Adjusted the timeout period from 30 seconds to 3 minutes to better handle stored procedures with input parameters that took longer than 30 seconds to execute.

  • Changing the Chart type did not adjust the Treat As combo box in all cases.

These changes and corrections were made after the 1.6.71 release and are contained in the 1.6.73 release (release date August 27, 2003)

  • "[frmChartStyles.DisplayColor(3)] Invalid property value" occurs when editing the chart style for a Pareto chart.

  • Pareto charts category bar labels were not placed correctly when a negative bar existed.

  • Fixed an error that occurred on individuals charts when the first data point was missing and the second data point was out-of-control.

  • The ADO timeout time was increased to 3 minutes to avoid time out error on slow queries.

These changes and corrections were made after the 1.6.61 release and are contained in the 1.6.71 release (release date May 21, 2003)

  • Added two new title codes @ESIMGAR and @ESIGMAS to allow the user to select estimated sigma based on the range or estimated sigma based on the sigma. @SIGMA still displays sigma of the individual values.

  • "[DrawVariablesChart] Invalid column name" could occur when a measurement column was set as the Order by column. Only a unique identifier column to set Order by.

  • "[frmChartDef.EditTitle (25)] [PQCrDef.GetDefPgTitleFontStr (9)] Object variable or With block variable not set" could occur when trying to edit a chart title through the Titles tab.

  • Changing the image size settings on the Misc tab cause the chart to be surrounded by white space.

  • In scatter diagram, if there were large gaps in the data the statistics were calculated but the chart was blank.

  • Removed extra digits after the decimal point for statistics in the title codes.

  • The statistics title display was observed when three or more control limits were computed.

  • On Pareto chart that disabled the cumulative line was not an option when "count charts" were selected. Now cumulative lines can be drawn on Multi-Pareto charts, vertical or horizontal bar charts, and total charts.

  • Print all charts in Workspace printed only the first several charts.

These changes and corrections were made after the 1.6.49 release and are contained in the 1.6.61 release (release date March 21, 2003)

  • The number of decimal places for statistics was not being set on multi-line charts and scatter diagrams.

  • Refreshing when zoomed in on a single chart in a Multi-chart now leaves the single chart zoomed while refreshing the Multi-chart.

  • Unchecking "Extend Limits" did not save this change.
