Chart Annotation - You can interactively add annotations to a chart; just right click on the chart and choose Add Annotation. Or, right click on the chart near an existing annotation and choose Edit Annotation. Annotations may be attached to a specific subgroup on the chart or positioned at a fixed location on the chart.
New Unique Identifier Column Mapping - This new column mapping type was created in order to support attaching an annotation to a specific subgroup of a chart. You must map one identifier column as a Unique Identifier in order to be able to attach an annotation to a subgroup.
XML Chart Definition Format - CHARTrunner 1.1 used an INI style file for the .CRF, .CRM and .CRW chart definition files. In CHARTrunner 1.5 these files are now stored in XML (Extensible Markup Language) format. XML has become an industry standard format for describing and exchanging data via the internet. CHARTrunner 1.5 can open chart definition files in the old INI format but when a chart definition is modified it will be stored in the new XML format and a backup saved (with a .bak extension).
Per-Chart Out-of-Control Tests - CHARTrunner 1.1 had a single master set of out-of-control tests that was specified in Setup > Out-of-control. This master set of tests was applied to every chart that was drawn. In CHARTrunner 1.5 a new preference in Setup > Preferences allows the user to continue to use the 1.1 method where the master tests are applied to all charts. Or, the user can choose to use the out-of-control tests that are stored in the chart definition file (*.CRF). When editing a chart definition there is a new Test Rules button on the Control Chart tab that allows you to edit the out-of-control test rules stored in the chart definition.
Trend Charts Renamed to Multi-Line Charts - CHARTrunner 1.1 used the term Trend chart for a chart that could contain up to four data lines. In CHARTrunner 1.5 this type of chart is now referred to as a Multi-Line chart. This change was made because in statistics a Trend chart refers to a different type of chart.
New Command Line Switch - The /F command line switch allows you to set the current chart folder. This is useful if you have a command script that is printing charts from several different chart folders.
New Behavior If Chart Style Not Found - If the chart style specified by a chart definition in CHARTrunner 1.1 could not be found then some rather plain looking defaults were used. In CHARTrunner 1.5 if the specified chart style cannot be found then the default chart style will be applied to the chart.
New CHARTrunner Integration Kit - CHARTrunner uses a set of ActiveX components that may be programmed using a variety of software development environments such as Visual Basic or VBA within Microsoft Word or Excel. On a properly licensed computer you may use these components to define a chart definition using code, read a chart definition from disk, save a chart definition to disk, display a chart in a window, display a chart in your own Visual Basic form using the new CHARTrunner 1.5 Charting Control, generate a chart image file, print a chart, create a clipCHART, etc. The documentation for the Integration Kit has been improved and completely rewritten in HTML and the sample code has been updated.
CHARTrunner 2000 generates SPC charts and performs statistical analysis using data that is collected, stored, and managed by other applications.
CHARTrunner eliminates the need for complex importing, time consuming exporting, and tedious data entry. That's because CHARTrunner does not store or modify data. Instead, it retrieves data from other sources and uses the data for SPC charting and statistical analysis. CHARTrunner clarifies data so that you can focus on quality improvement--not data management.
You should not install CHARTrunner 1.5 into the same folder where CHARTrunner 1.1 is installed.
Both versions of CHARTrunner can be safely installed on the same computer thus allowing you to try out the new features of CHARTrunner 1.5.
When a chart definition is modified in CHARTrunner 1.5 the format of the file is changed to the new XML format. Thus, after 1.5 is installed you should copy your 1.1 chart definitions to a different folder for use with 1.5 so that you can retain your 1.1 chart definitions in the old format.
