Upgrade to CHARTrunner 3.6 from a previous version

The overall upgrade process contains five steps, and more detailed information on each step is given later in this article.

• Install CHARTrunner 3.6
• Enter your new license information
• Change the folder where charts are stored
• Import any customized chart styles if applicable
• Change the maintenance reminder date

Install CHARTrunner 3.6

Insert the installation CD or double-click on the installation file downloaded from the PQ Systems website. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the software. Restart your computer when finished if prompted.

Enter your new license information

Open CHARTrunner 3.6. Select “I have purchased” and click OK on the next window.

Enter the information from the license certificate you received with CHARTrunner 3.6. Note that you will have a new license number and update code for version 3.6. Be sure to enter the license number and update code exactly as they appear on the certificate. The last box of the license number and the expiration date will normally be left blank. Click Update, and then Exit.

Change the folder where your charts are stored

Open CHARTrunner 3.6. Click on the folder icon at the upper right of the screen to change the working folder. If preferred, move the CHARTrunner charts to a different folder using Windows Explorer. Browse to the folder that you used in the previous version and click OK.

Import any customized styles if applicable

CHARTrunner chart styles, which control the various fonts and colors used on the chart, are stored in the Styles folder within the folder where CHARTrunner is installed. If you have created or modified styles in a previous version, you can copy these files and paste them into the new style directory. By default, the new directory is C:\Program Files\PQ Systems\CHARTrunner 3.6\Styles.

Change the maintenance reminder date

In CHARTrunner 3.6, select Setup > Preferences. On the General tab, change the Maintenance reminder date. We recommend changing this to one month before your software maintenance will expire. This date can be found on the license certificate received with the software, or by calling PQ Systems at 800-777-3020.
