Software Developer's Kit (SDK) Options
CHARTrunner 3.0 SDK
The CHARTrunner Software Developer's Kit is a free download. To use the example code or create your own program will require that CHARTrunner is installed on the computer you plan to use. If you don't already have CHARTrunner, you can download and evaluate it without charge.
By using the CHARTrunner Software Developer's Kit your software application will be able to create, display, and publish statistical process control charts (SPC charts), quality charts, and histograms. The charts may use data from a wide variety of sources including Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, SQL Server, Oracle, text files, DAO data sources, OLE DB (ADO) data sources, and ODBC drivers. In addition, you can use an in-memory recordset that is populated with data fetched by your program, so that any source of data obtainable by your program can be analyzed and charted.
The CHARTrunner components are COM (ActiveX) based, but they work fine in Visual Studio .NET projects via COM interop. A new version of the CHARTrunner components written entirely in managed .NET code is under development.
The CHARTrunner ActiveX components can be used from within your own program or ASP (classic) / ASP.NET web site to:
- Define a chart definition using code.
- Read a chart definition from disk.
- Save a chart definition to disk.
- Display a chart in a window.
- Display a chart on a form using the CHARTrunner ActiveX Charting Control (OCX).
- Save a chart as an image file (BMP, EMF, JPEG, PNG).
- Save a chart as a web page.
- Send a chart image via e-mail.
- Print a chart.
- Read a dashboard definition from disk.
- Define a dashboard indicator definition using code.
- Generate dashboard indicators as image files (EMF or PNG) for inclusion in Word, PowerPoint, web pages, etc.
- Get chart statistics such as Min, Max, Mean, Skewness, Kurtosis, Cpk, etc.
- Create a clipCHART that can be displayed with the CHARTrunner Viewer.
- Evaluate multiple charts to find those having the highest number of Out-of-Control test failures (see the OOC Summary sample, or this feature is built into 3.0 and higher).
- And lots more.
The Software Developer's Kit contains documentation and sample code that demonstrate how to automate CHARTrunner and integrate it with other systems and applications. Code samples are provided for Visual Basic .NET, Visual Basic 6.0, VBScript, JavaScript, Microsoft Access via Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), and Microsoft Excel via Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). The Programmer's Guide provides an overview of programming using the CHARTrunner ActiveX components. The Reference Manual provides information about the various objects, properties and methods exposed by the CHARTrunner ActiveX components.
CHARTrunner Software Developer's Kit licensing options
You must purchase a CHARTrunner license for each computer on which you deploy your CHARTrunner Software Developer's Kit application(s). The following types of licenses are available.

CHARTrunner IP Developer License
Each workstation used by a CHARTrunner SDK developer must have a CHARTrunner workstation license. This license entitles the developer to one year of free upgrades (for the licensed workstation only) and technical support. |

CHARTrunner IP Developer License Yearly Maintenance Plan
The maintenance plan entitles the developer to one year of free upgrades (for the licensed workstation only) and technical support. |

| CHARTrunner IP License Upgrades |
Our software version numbering scheme is of the form Major.Minor.Maintenance. A maintenance release will increment only the Maintenance portion of the version number. A CHARTrunner IP license is entitled to free maintenance releases for as long as maintenance releases are published for that Major.Minor version.
Upgrade releases (which contain new features) change the Major.Minor portion of the version number. The cost to upgrade each CHARTrunner IP license is $50. |

CHARTrunner IP (Integration Pack) license
License for your custom application(s) to use the CHARTrunner ActiveX components via the Software Developers Kit. Under this license the CHARTrunner executable programs (i.e. the EXE programs that ship with CHARTrunner) are not useable. However, there are no limitations on what your custom application(s) can do via the Software Developers Kit. This license is best suited for the situation where your users will use your custom application(s) and have no need to run the CHARTrunner program, the CHARTrunner Viewer program, or the CHARTrunner command line program. CHARTrunner (Workstation) license
This is the standard license to use CHARTrunner on a single workstation. With this license your users have full access to CHARTrunner and your custom application(s) can make use of the CHARTrunner ActiveX components via the Software Developers Kit. View the license agreement.
