CR: Unable to fully display settings and windows

Revision Date: 2010-01-22

Problem:

CHARTrunner may not be able to display a full window on the screen. This can hinder the user’s ability to create and view charts. This is most noticeable when attempting to select from a drop down choice list on the right side of the monitor or entering data on the left side of the monitor.

This problem is caused by display settings on the user’s computer that are set too high. For example, if the display settings are set to “Large DPI” combined with a low screen size or resolution, the user may encounter this problem.

Solution:

Follow these steps when running Microsoft Windows XP:

  1. Open the Windows ‘Control panel’ and navigate to ‘display.’
  2. Move to the ‘Settings’ tab and select ‘Advanced.’
  3. The DPI setting should be set to a normal size (96 DPI).

(This problem can also occur with low screen resolution so increasing it may be necessary. A user can do this from step 2 above.)

Follow these steps when running Microsoft Windows Vista and 7:

  1. Right click on the desktop and select ‘Personalize.’
  2. In the left panel will be a link to change DPI settings.
  3. The DPI setting should be set to a normal size (96 DPI).

(This problem can also occur with low screen resolution so increasing it may be necessary. Continuing from step 1 above, select display settings and from there the user will be able to change the screen resolution.)

Follow these steps when running Microsoft Windows 7:

  1. Right click on the desktop and select ‘Personalize.’
  2. In the left panel will be a link to ‘see display.’
  3. In the left panel will be a link to ‘set custom DPI text size.’

(This problem can also occur with low screen resolution so increasing it may be necessary. Continuing from step 2 above, select ‘adjust resolution’ and from there the user will be able to change the screen resolution.)
