Problem:
In order to help in diagnosing a software problem on your computer you may be asked by PQ Systems to download, install and run the PQ Application Information utility program. This utility gathers diagnostic information about specific files and ActiveX components on your computer and records the results to a log that you can e-mail back to PQ Systems.
Solution:
On Windows 2000 or higher you must be a member of the local Administrators group in order to successfully install and use this program.
Download the setup program for the PQ Application Information utility program here.
After the setup program has downloaded, run SetupPqAppInfo.exe and follow the installation instructions.
To start the utility, click on the PQ Application Information shortcut on the Start menu, or on the shortcut on your desktop if you requested a desktop icon during the install.
Click the Open button and select the *.PQINFO file that corresponds to the application for which you desire to gather diagnostic information. Then click the Get Info button to gather information about the application.
If the PQ application is in "Trial Mode" the "Trial Mode Information" window may appear one or more times. Simply click the Exit button each time it appears.
One of the actions performed on each ActiveX component the utility tests is to verify that the component can be registered. Thus, a side effect of running the utility is that any ActiveX components in the list that were not registered prior to running the utility may be registered afterward. In some cases, that might be sufficient to correct the problem under investigation.
The diagnostic information that is gathered will be displayed in the Log window as well as being appended to the "PQ Application Information.log" file that is in the same folder as PqAppInfo.exe.
Send the results that were recorded in the Log window back to the PQ Systems Technical Support representative you are working with. You can copy the entire contents of the Log window to the clipboard via the Edit > Copy Entire Log menu, and then paste the information into an e-mail message. Or, you can attach the "PQ Application Information.log" file to an e-mail message.
When you are finished using the utility you can use Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs to uninstall "PQ Application Information."
