GP: How does GAGEpack handle uncertainty studies

Revision Date: 2005-09-02

To perform an uncertainty study, take a single part with the characteristic you study. You will need a gage and an operator who normally measures the part. Have the operator measure the characteristic multiple times using the same part.  GAGEpack will generate a 95% confidence interval based on the t-distribution and put the +- figure in the uncertainty box.

If you want to report Bias for this measurement and gage, enter a reference value (known or true value) in the box labeled reference. To report Bias as a percentage of process variation, enter the process spread in the box labeled Process Variation (generally 6 sigma).  To report the Bias as a percentage of specification, enter the upper and lower specification limits in the boxes labeled USL and LSL respectively.
