Customer service demands focusing on systems

As we saw last month, customer service is a clear reflection of the quality of the interface of products or processes and those who benefit from these products and processes. Without understanding the customer, a group that includes everyone from those who use a product to those who distribute it to those who deliver it, it is impossible to provide high quality customer service. Understanding customers means, first and foremost, identifying who they are and how their needs and wants can be met by the organization that serves them. The journey toward excellence

This month's column is about a recent trip to New York City and what I learned along the way. About a month ago, we attended the National Band and Orchestra festival at Carnegie Hall. The high school orchestra our granddaughter, Claire, plays in was invited to play there and we were not about to miss that event! The first stop along the way speaks to improvement and excellence in a way that is consistent with our approach to Six Sigma.

  • Healthcare conference: Registration is open for the 39th Annual Educational Conference sponsored by the National Association for Healthcare Quality. The conference will take place in Nashville September 7-10.
  • Baldrige Award winners: U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker has presented two U.S. organizations with the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the nation's highest honor for organizational innovation and performance excellence.
  • Recall information: The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of the U.S. Department of Transportation provides recall information including vehicle and equipment campaigns from 1966 to present. The campaigns include motor vehicle products that have experienced safety-related defects or did not comply with federal motor vehicle safety standards.
  • Training opportunities: Don't forget to check the PQ website with information about relevant learning opportunities with our training seminars and webinars.
