Quality Quiz:Professor Cleary
Another quiz from Professor Cleary

Nadha Klu, quality manager at Xcelent Xtrusion, is working on responding to an order for products for Zero Defects, their biggest customer. With a view to a potential bonus if he can impress his boss, Nadha instructs his foreman, Justin Case, about the order, urging him to expedite the processing, in order to delight the customer.

Nadha also tells Justin to keep records on daily production for the Zero Defects order, so Justin records that on Monday, 505 units were produced, and on Tuesday, 600. Nadha is delighted with this data, since this kind of output could lead to a promotion for him, or at least a bonus. He intends to continue producing parts for Zero Defects at this rate, but this data is, in his mind, significant.

What would you want Nadha to consider?

a) He should report this data immediately to his boss, Graham Kracker, and glow in the prospect of the results.

b) Since Graham Kracker has been reading Out of the Crisis, by W. Edwards Deming, Nadha might want to consider collecting far more data before he reports the results.
