Quality Quiz from Professor Cleary
Noah Annchovees is plant manager for High ‘n Low Ladder Company. His supervisor Barbara Seville brings Noah an X-bar and R chart from the #6 production line, smiling broadly because the chart, she points out, shows seven range values below R-bar, and this, she notes, indicates that the process variability is now less than it had been.
Barbara recommends that new control limits for the chart be created, asserting that the old R-bar chart is no longer valid. Ecstatic about the chart and what it demonstrates about the process, she urges Noah to provide a celebration for the employees on line #6 who have accomplished this improvement.
If you were Noah Annchovees, would you accept Barbara Seville’s recommendation on the basis of valid interpretation of the chart?
A) Yes
B) No
