After last month's fiasco, you transferred your quality manager to a branch office in Cucamonga and gave him a new position where he could do less damage. (He's thriving in the accounting department.) To replace him, you've interviewed several people, and your screening decision will be based on their responses to the following question.

You are producing a part for a customer who has a capability requirement of 1.33 or more. A capability study reflects a Cp equal to 2. Which of the following actions should be pursued?

  1. Ship the product. This high level of Cp suggests that no further action is required.
  2. Check the Cpk to see if it is equal to or greater than 1.33.
  3. Verify that the process is in control.
  4. Verify that the process is stable, then check the Cpk (b).
  5. Check Cpk as in (b), then verify system stability.

The candidates who respond correctly will become finalists for the position. If no one answers correctly, all candidates will be eliminated and you will begin anew. Which answer will assure applicants that they may have a future in your company?
