You are plant manager for the Six Sigma Company. Your firm's quality manager brings you an X-bar and R chart from production line #6. He is smiling broadly because the chart shows seven ranges below R bar, indicating that the process variability is now less than it had been.

The quality manager recommends that new control limits for the chart be created, asserting that the old R bar chart is no longer valid. He also suggests providing jelly donuts for the employees on line #6 tomorrow morning as a celebration of their success.
